Every now and then in the history of man, an event happens that is so life-altering that because of it, nothing will ever be the same. The fall of Rome. The crucifixion of Christ. The Holocaust. The World Wars.
The Aranea Virus.

L.I.V.E. Corporation’s creation of successful artificial organs, and their safe transplant into test subjects, did not come a moment too soon. It was the only thing which saved the human race when the Aranea Virus hit. Still, it wiped out a quarter of a million people in its first six months. It began with the symptoms of a cold, but soon a veiny purple rash would appear somewhere on the body.Within four days, an organ somewhere in the body would fail. It boggled doctors and terrified nations, but all agreed on one thing: L.I.V.E. was their savior.
2039. CINCINNATI, OHIO
Life has continued. The Aranea virus is still active though not at all the epidemic it once was and organ transplants are at an all-time high. The government presence is stronger than ever, working closely with L.I.V.E. corps to keep citizens safe and healthy. Great walls surround the city and no one is allowed in or out. Small towns outside of the city have learned to survive, though they’re hardly thriving and more tribal than townships.
But the virus isn’t the only threat. The organs from L.I.V.E. Corps aren’t free. In fact, they’re most expensive than anyone can reasonably afford and so every organ is given on a payment plan. When payments fall behind you can sure collectors will be at your door. After 90 days L.I.V.E. corps will repossess the organ keeping you alive. Whether you’re out to lunch or asleep in bed a collector will find you and take back what is rightfully the property of their employers.
Between the virus and collectors it’s a dangerous world.
