We're in need of mods and members!
Anhamirak and Ahnmik is a roleplaying site centered around a series of books by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes, though most members have not read the series. There is a good background on the series in the plot information.
What if marrying the one you love would bring certain doom? What if the only reason your people existed, was to end a war? What if you couldn’t have children, or they would reek havoc on the world, without even trying? What if you could fall to a frightening void… any second of the day?
Long ago, when Egypt was young and the first pyramids were being built by the blood, sweat, and tears of slavery, there was a sect of thirteen men and women who lived at the edge of society. These men and women prayed to the dual power of the goddess Anhamirak and the god Ahnmik. Anhamirak was known to grant life, light, love and above all else free will, but as all things must she had an opposite. One would pray to Ahnmik for power, sleep, and silent peace. These twin powers were held in perfect balance by Maeve, the high priestess of the sect.
It's been over two thousand years since the split...
Welcome to Wyvern’s Court, a small kingdom tucked in between South Asian mountains holding small human clans, cliffs holding the mysterious Mistari, tiger shapeshifters, forests holding wolf shapeshifter tribes, and a vast ocean holding the island of the elusive and magical shm’Ahnmik, falcon shapeshifters. Here shapeshifters of any kind are accepted. First created by the union between serpent shapeshifters called Serpiente and the bird shapeshifters, called Avians after the end of their many centuries long war, lasting from the days of the Dasi, twenty-five years ago, the region has become a refuge to those deemed mongrel by their own.
Wyvern’s Court has recently had some intense moments in the past few years. Their princess, Oliza Shardae Cobriana, daughter of both monarchs, abdicated her throne, separating them into two and giving one half to her cousin on the Serpiente side, Salem Cobriana, and making her aunt, Sive Shardae, heir to the old Avian half, heir of Oliza’s mother. She went on with her lover, a wolf shapeshifter named Betia Frektane, to free Betia’s enslaved village.
Afterwards, Hai Cobriana, resident falcon cobra mix, unable to come back to her land for her parents’ decision, keeps seeing the future in violent, disturbing ways. Wyvern’s Court being taken by flames, turned into an ice-like world by falcon shapeshifters, and Salem, dying in her arms. After Sive’s Alistair, or fiancé, Prentice’s attempted murder of Salem, Hai was forced to take the throne to keep her terrible visions from becoming real. After Salem returned to his throne, Hai’s visions became subdued, less often and painful.
Over the past five years since Oliza’s resignation, things have gone at a faint, fragile peace.
In Wyvern’s Court, mysterious deaths are popping about. People are pointing fingers and reaching for old hates, all but declaring war on each other. It is not a good time for the Avians to gain a new leader, but delicate Sive Shardae, whose Alistair is dead and is forced to declare a new one, is expected to take her sister's throne very soon.
Wolves’ packs are fighting bloody wars for each others positions. Kalisa, a kind leader of a southern wolf tribe called Vahamil, has had an injury slowing her. But she has had unexpected help from the Frektane pack and their new leaders, Betia Frektane and Oliza Shardae Cobriana with their adopted wolf son.
Empress Cjarsa of Ahnmik is hardly Empress anymore as she slowly slips into shm'Ecl, the great void, and her heir, Araceli, seems to have taken the spotlight. Most of the falcons support Araceli, and want her to be Empress. But others don't want change. And those who are extreme enough to attempt to kill for her will.
A lone quemak, a mongrel falcon, has been kept secret to the Empress for seventeen summers. Vela Karja, daughter of a wolf and a pure diamond falcon, intends to get her revenge on the White Lady, Empress Cjarsa herself. The shapeshifters must unite to either defend the manipulative falcons, or follow Vela to overthrow them.
Everything is changing soon.
