Arianna was never the one to be bold, she was content with being in the shadows. Of course sometimes light shining on her was nice but for the most part, she preferred staying out of the limelight. This was probably due to her upbringing away from the courtly life. Though now, as a eighteen year old, she was starting to arrive at the court, among the drama which she hadn't been prepared for. However Arianna herself was unaware of exactly the triangles that were forming which she had hoped to discover for herself later on as she grew accustomed to living within these walls.
With a piece of paper there were many struck out words, writing a letter to her cousin hadn't been so difficult before... though Arianna just didn't have anything to tell the young Mary Towers. Nothing of interest had happened within the last two weeks of arriving at the castle. Her family was of course, like any other. Always wanting to further their own agenda, her brother was already here at the castle as well, making his own name for himself. Sir Rendan Towers, maybe it was her own naive head believing what he told her, but according to her brother, many knew him and he was one of the influential people there.
"Yes... definitely false." she murmured to herself as the put the piece of paper back onto the table as a knock came at her door. As always, Rendan never did wait for permission.
"Ah my sister! How good it is to see you once more." He said as he strode over to her and wrapped his arms around her whilst stepping on her hem of her dress. "I'm terribly sorry for not visiting sooner, I have been busy."
"What? Playing cards and gambling?" Arianna said with a raised eyebrow, sarcasm and humor were her best traits outside of the gentle blond she was known to be.
"Temper, temper Anna." Rendan said, scolding her with a smirk on his almost identical face. They both had the curly blond hair of their father, yet the blue eyes of their paternal grandmother. Arianna frowned at her nick name, she was extremely proud of her title and liked it to be used as often as possible.
"Lady Arianna." she said sternly.
"Sorry... Lady Anna. Have you seen the stable hands yet? Maybe they will catch your eye like they used to at home." Rendan winked at Arianna, at which point her jaw dropped. It was only Rendan who knew of her secret crushes back when she was younger. Why was it that only her brother could bring this temper out of her like nobody else could?
"I would prefer Lady Arianna or just Anna if you won't use my full title... Rendan." she said with a sly look from her toes back up at him, it was the infamous tease that their mother had taught them.
"Either way, better get used to things here Anna, you're not Princess of the Manor anymore, you're a Lady. Better begin getting accustomed to your new role. The sooner the better. It's rife here with so many royals running around the castle." Rendan said, looking back at the door as if someone were listening.
"Well then. Better let me be then." Arianna said, her brother was dismissed in her case, she wanted some time to herself, she and her brother both knew why she was there.
Marriage. It was so common. It was why all the royals were here in the first place wasn't it? Fighting for the hand of a Princess? Her family wanted her to marry a man, she wasn't sure herself as to how this would happen, it wasn't exactly her place to ask around for that information. Obedient daughters just follow the shepherd. Right?
