There are so many supernatural novels and books that something has to be true. Something has to be lurking in the night when you’re safe in your bed. Someone or something has to be watching you through the window of your bedroom while you sleep. Someone has to be breaking into the homes leaving no trace behind except for mangled bodies. Someone or something has to be out there, lurking.
In this world, there are two kinds of people. People that are completely unaware of everything that goes on. They are born and grow up. They go to school. After high school, they choose whether they should go to college or in to the work force. Their life goal is typically something small, like to get a good job and have a family. Some have dreams larger than that, like becoming famous in some way. However, it is all mundane. There is nothing out of the normal. They simply live out their lives in peace.
Then, there are the hunters. Hunters are born and raised to fight because it is in their blood. A long time ago, a council decided they had to do something about the supernatural slowly moving in on the innocence of their villages and cities. The councils around the world gathered up select families and chose them to protect the civilians from the supernatural. Their secret is sacred and it is forbidden to tell any one of their true job in life and can only confide in their own. Hunters are everywhere. They look no different from any other human being. They are simply trained from the age of ten to take on the supernatural, wherever they are.
In the world, there are humans and there hunters. But lurking there are much worse things than the serial killers plastered on the evening news. Things, with teeth and claws and animalistic instincts, that can rip someone to shreds without a second glance. So are you a protector? Are you an innocent? Or are you an animal, waiting in the night?
