In the year 1812, England was in a state of political turmoil. King George III had been declared legally insane, and his son, known as the Prince Regent, ruled the country in his stead. England was embroiled in not one, but two wars--one with France (The first of the Napoleonic Wars) and one with the newly-formed United States of America (The War of 1812). But for the aristocrats and landed gentry in the English countryside, it was a time of innocence, leisure, and decadence. For a young lady born of a good family, the political situations of the outside world were of much less importance than finding a good husband. And "it is a truth, universally acknowledged that a single man, in possession of good fortune, must be in want of a wife...." Join us as we attempt to recreate the world of Jane Austen--strong heroines, amiable gentlemen, unscrupulous scoundrels, and charming romances. About Us: Prudence is a unique roleplay aimed at Jane Austen enthusiasts. The level is decidedly advanced, as we would like to keep as close to Jane Austen's tone and writing style as we possibly can. There is no minimum word count, as the focus must be of quality, not quantity. Members may create their own characters, or choose from a list of "suggested" characters, to help begin their own Austenian romance. Please, stop by for a visit, won't you?
